The other night I watched Michael Moore’s ‘Capitalism: A love story and I was amazed at how ignorant I was to the extent that Ronald Reagan and the Bushes were just puppets to the people that really called the shots in the US.
Wall Street.
Have a look at this clip….
Then my thoughts turned to the Conservative Government that we have just “elected” in this country.
The vast majority of us in the UK are working-class. Are we as retarded as the American Republicans who elected George W Bush to be their president not once, but twice?!
Our friends across the pond saw sense and elected in Obama, a president who would represent the interests of the people, not that of the corporations. But I guess we were hit by the clever-dumb balance this time.
Oh well, at least we already have a national health system. (The Tories did try to block that when Labour introduced it by the way)
What do you think?

“Obama, a president who would represent the interests of the people, not that of the corporations.”
And Liberals (or what Europeans I believe call social democrats) are duped into believing this. Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same capitalist coin.

Craig, You have a point. Truth is capitalism is so deep-rooted in all of us that even the most socialist of us struggles to think about a lot of things without profit at the back of our minds.
But there is a clear contrast between Republicans and Democrats in my opinion. One side actually promote a capitalist system where unregulated and privatised, competitive driven industries will sort everything out. The other clearly sees that doing that only leads to inequality and measures have to be taken to make sure the needy are taken care of. You just have to look at the Health Care debate.

firstly, bush wasnt voted in twice-he rigged it, helped by fox tv and his brother, who was governer of the state that ‘accidentally’ miscounted their votes. unreal. every government, from britain to usa, from spain to italy are corrupt, money grabbing lying bastards. we have been shown this as a race time and time and time again. however, we seem to forget this at polling time, and proceed to hope that the next bunch of pricks will be better. then seem shocked that they are not…why? as a nation, we should ALL refuse to vote, it is the only way in which we shall communicate to these lying parasite fucks that we are not happy, fed up of being conned and want something better, filled with honesty and transparancy. these fuckers are in place to work for us, but only appear to work for themselves-we, as humans, are being fucked up the arse by our governments in such a fashion that our anus makes the channel tunnel look like a pilot hole left by a woodworm. fuck the system, dont vote….ever.

Just another quick addition after the government’s recent ‘fair’ spending cuts…..right, lets break this down. The banks were granted carte blanche to provide credit to anyone (one just needs to examine the case of freddie mack and fannie mae, providing mortgages in the USA to trailer park families for $250,000 homes that they would never, ever be able to adhere to once the payments increased after the initial five year ‘holiday’ period) whilst taking huge risks in hedge funds and other financial packages. Inevitably, the system crashed globally (though noteably some countries, whom didnt take these risks, like Canada, were less affected) and the banks were provided with taxpayers money in order to stay in business. Now, with the banks back to profitable business(anyone wonder why the banks, using taxpayers money to reinstate themselves, then upped their rates for mortgages and loans etc, to recover their loses? Remember, this is our money they are loaning back to us!), one is confused why the government is making cuts that directly impacts on the British taxpayer? Should it not be the banks that are repaying the billions that borrowed, thus enabling the government to repay the debts they have incurred by borrowing from other countries? If not, should the British taxpayer not be receiving dividends as ‘shareholders’ from the banks due to their profitable outcomes in the tax year? Has anyone heard any information at all relating to the banks paying back the money that they ‘borrowed’? As a carpenter, these cuts include the budget for building getting heavily slashed, with ten thousand construction workers in Scotland alone predicted to be out of work within the year. One presumes that these workers shall claim job seekers allowance- is this not a vicious cirle? One also presumes that the government, having made the benefits system so rigid now, shall make it difficult for said workers to claim and assistance as the government have stated that they shall slash benefits paid. And this is even before one takes into account the effects on the public sector, expected to lose up to 490,000 workers-where will they go? From the pensions scheme, which is now worthless, to immigration(the government sends money back to Poland for worker’s children, whom they don’t even know for sure exist!) and now spending cuts which shall cripple this country, the manner in which this country has been ran over the past 15 years is nothing short of scandalous. These so-called politicians should be charged with fraud and theft(especially after the expenses claims, and what happened to those MP’s? How did they manage to get Legal Aid? What was their punishment? Especially Mr Eric Joyce, Falkirk’s MP, who swindled the taxpayer out of half a million over 4 years, flying himself to Kent to see his children, and his children to Falkirk, and also his chaffeur service due to losing his license through drink driving), with Mr Blair being charged with genocide. Be interesting to see what comes out of the investigation into the alleged ‘suicide’ of Dr Kelly prior to the Iraq war-another coverup no doubt. These parasites literally get away with murder. Civil war, rebel yeah. I am leaving the country, I shall leave the extra taxes and difficult times to the sheep of this country, whilst watching from afar the government still creaming ever penny from the people, like they always have, and reading how the banks are still making record profits. Fucking scum.

Jay, god knows about when the hand-outs will be payed back. Actually, god probably hasn't got a fucking clue either.
The tories were put in power by a massive election campaign busget, most of which would have come from the city, so they call the shots really. Will probably claim that payback will come in the form of the ridiculous banking levy tax that has just been introduced. Half of RBS belongs to us, but even when the markets recover former form that will probably go for fuckin' peanuts in some dodgy backroom deal. Even if it isn't dodgy, Politicians and Civil Servants dont have what it takes to get a good deal for the people. It's ironic, but our country could actually do with some of them greedy, blood sucking, ruthless mercenary bankers running public services.

Are working class Conservatives retarded?
Isn’t that a bit insulting to the people that, as a sort of socialist, you presumably at least like or want to win over to your cause?
Maybe working class people like having freedom, like the system that gave them a job, and like being able to buy the stuff they want?
dave @EvenFlowDave October 24 2010 17:36 pm
You are absolutely right, Tim. Working class people do like freedom.
Freedom to buy things, because they have jobs, because the government hasn't broken the employment market. Freedom to get a deserved place at university because the government hasn't taken money out of the education system and Universities are forced to take on less students despite receiving more applications. Freedom to get a decent service at Hospitals, etc, because the government hasn't decimated public services. The Freedom to have an elected representative actually represent the peoples interests, not that of the corporations who provided them with the money to win an election, and the media outlets that printed the propaganda to make that happen.
Thankfully, It's not my job to convince working class people who vote Conservative, that they have been brain-washed. I'm not a Politician. I just say it like I see it.

Capitalism = pounds over people, dollars over denizens. Capitalism worships the god of money, it treats people like disposable objects, objects to be exploited, manipulated and finally thrown away like an old rag doll in order to make more money.
One thing that pisses me off about limited companies is that they can make a very healthy profit, but still deem it necessary to make “efficiency savings” (redundancies to those of us that don’t speak bullshit) if that level of profit is slightly less than the year before. Remember, these are not companies making a loss (far from it), these are companies that have just made £850million instead of £900million. When the fat cat shareholders get a slightly reduced dividend (a dividend which 98% of the nation would drool at the thought of), they are outraged and look at ways to maximise profit, which normally comes at the expense of both the customer and the honest, hard-working people busting a gut to line these peoples’ pockets.
