The Web is opening so many doors for indie music. There are so many useful tools for artist to self-publish and promote their content. But when the content is music, I have felt that something was missing in the way of community driven content promotion. Only until I came across TheSixtyOne.
TheSixtyOne is a digg like site where indipendant artists can publish their music, and the community will vote up the best tracks.

And it looks good. Really good!
The danger with any site of this type is that it can attracts spammers trying to cheat the system. But from what I’ve seen so far in the two days that I have been playing about with it, the developers have thought of pretty much everything.
Having to listen to more than a minute of a track before giving the thumbs-up (a love heart) should stop impatient users voting up any old crap.. and the ten votes limit per day should keep the spammers at bay. 
Great work TheSixtyOne! I’m going to have a lot of fun with this indie music social networking site.
I plan on doing a review of the top social networking tools for music artist in the coming weeks, one I get my head properly round this one. But for now, my advice to any indie artist looking to promote their music… click here, sign up, upload your tracks and don’t forget to say EvenFlowDave referred you!
