- The people 1 The X Factor 0
This Christmas, music fans (the real music fans) have an early gift. The people united have stood up to and defeated the capitalist, manufactured pop establishment.
It’s a victory for Music.
And against all the odds.
The people, armed only with the internet, 0 marketing budget and one rebel anthem on download only, against the x-factor with their several month long TV programme, unlimited marketing budget and the distribution clout of Sony BMG.
Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Killing in the Name’ Is the Christmas number 1 for 2009 ahead of the X Factor monopoly.
History has been made.
Over 500’000 sales in one week, just from downloads. The most the UK has ever seen.
Congratulations to everyone that got involved promoting the campaign and a massive thank you to John Morter for starting the Facebook group. You have made this a memorable year!
So we won the Battle. What now?

See you at the free gig comrades!

It's to stop the x-factor fans spraying my site with Joe is better than RATM dribble...
anti-pop establishment slurs are welcome here anytime! :-)

well well well mr cowell. bet last january, in your 'take over the world in 2010' business plan, you would not have been a thinking my friends rage against the machine would take away your planned xmas number 1? whilst i am glad it happened, i am afraid it counts for little as he still subjects me to shite saturday (and now bloody sunday 2, a wonder if the british governement will spend years and millions investigating that tragedy and cover it up anyway) night television and also re-run after re-run of old songs, murdered and butchered by some new twat for the displeasure of the public. I also hear xfactor is going global. fuck me. i mean, how could they replace some cocky, untalented wank, a turkey twizzler(with same intelligence and charisma) with a geordie accent, an old irish twat who, low and behold, not only brought us boyzone buut westlife to, and kylies much less talented sister? The mind boggles. Unfortunately, woman tune in every weekend, keeping the ratings high and the cash flowing in. If only the winner was given a trophy then told to get to fuck back to mcdonalds, it may not be as bad. It is the ensuing music career for the fuckers that causes the problem. Where may I add is Rock Idol? Can you imagine it? auditions for musicians of each instrutment, big rock renditions……i will save that for my wet dream later. Instead, we get some young fuds trying to sing as best as their little talent allows, and that is it. Heres hoping the fuckers get aids for xmas, or at least a large air accident with cowell and co on board….al queda, if you are listening…….
